Rebates

To assist customers in saving water, rebates are available for high efficiency fixtures and converting your high water using landscape to low or no water use.

All rebate requests are processed through the Smart Rebate Program administered by California Water Efficiency Partnership (CalWEP).

Residential Rebates

  • High Efficiency Residential Toilets (HET/DFT)
    Up to $100 rebate for high efficiency/dual flush toilet. Maximum of 3 HET/DFTs per dwelling unit. Only applicable on eligible WaterSense certified models replacing existing high-water using toilet in a single-family or multi-family dwelling built before 2016. New construction is not eligible.
  • High Efficiency Residential Clothes Washers
    Up to $150 for a high efficiency clothes washer. Only applicable on eligible models with a water factor of 3.7 or less.
  • Rain Barrels
    Up to $75 per barrel. Maximum of 4 rain barrels per property. Rain barrels must hold a minimum of 50 gallons. Only newly purchased rain barrels may qualify for this rebate. Homemade rain barrels do not qualify.
  • Weather-Based Smart Irrigation Controllers
    Up to $80 for a weather-based smart irrigation controller. Eligible products can be found on the EPA WaterSense Certified Irrigation Controller webpage.
  • Turf/Lawn Removal Single-Family Residence, Multi-Family Residences and HOAs (1-4 dwelling units)
    Up to $1 per square foot for a maximum of $750 per property.

To be eligible for the rebate, the following conditions must be met.

    • The existing lawn must have living landscape that is not water wise. Dead grass or low water use landscapes are not eligible.
    • Projects must be approved in advance. The program is not retroactive.
    • Landscapes for new construction are not eligible.
    • Rebate amount is based upon square footage of turf removed, with the following guidelines.
    • Must include:
      • irrigation efficiency retrofits (sprinkler to drip retrofit or eliminate.)
      • water wise plants (3 plants minimum per 100 square feet)
      • no more than 25% of the rebated area may be permeable flagstones or gravel

Commercial Rebates

  • High Efficiency Commercial Toilets (HET/DFT)
    Up to $200 rebate for high efficiency/dual flush toilet. Maximum of 20 HET/DFTs. Only applicable on eligible WaterSense certified models replacing existing high-water using toilet in building built before 2016. New construction is not eligible.
  • High Efficiency Urinals(HEU)
    Up to $300 rebate for high efficiency urinals. Maximum of 13 HEUs. Only applicable on eligible WaterSense certified models replacing existing high-water using urinals in building built before 2016. New construction is not eligible.
  • High Efficiency Commercial Clothes Washers(HEWs)
    Up to $150 for a high efficiency clothes washer. Maximum of 10 HEWs. Only applicable on eligible models with a water factor of 3.7 or less.
  • Rain Barrels
    Up to $75 per barrel. Maximum of 4 rain barrels per property. Rain barrels must hold a minimum of 50 gallons. Only newly purchased rain barrels may qualify for this rebate. Homemade rain barrels do not qualify.
  • Weather-Based Smart Irrigation Controllers(WBIC)
    Up to $80 for a weather-based smart irrigation controller. Maximum of 10 WBICs.Eligible products can be found on the EPA WaterSense Certified Irrigation Controller webpage.
  • Turf/Lawn Removal Commercial, Multi-Family Residences and HOAs (5+ dwelling units)
    Up to $1 per square foot for a maximum of $1500 per meter serving irrigation and $3000 per property.

All installations may be subject to inspection before rebates are issued.
